36: Why Social Media Influencers Should Inspire You To Believe Anything Is Possible

Description:

One of my favorite stories in history is that of the 4-minute mile.

The 4-minute mile was first achieved by Roger Bannister in 1954. Everyone had thought it was totally impossible, but he did it! Guess what happened next? Suddenly all these other people started to do it. In fact, only 46 days later, an Australian runner broke Roger’s record. A year later, three more runners broke that record (in the same race). At this point, more than 1,000 runners have run a 4-minute mile. How?

Because they knew it was possible from seeing someone else do it.

I want to compare this to social media influencers. Let’s stop comparing and feeling jealous – and instead feel inspired that we’re seeing people support themselves on social media.

Why can social media feel negative?

Anytime we feel jealous, the only reason we do is because we’re in a “lack” mindset. We believe that if somebody has X, then we can’t have it because there’s only so much of X in the world. But what we have to remember is this world is abundance. There is more than enough to go around for everybody. We are not in competition with each other. So we have to throw away the story that there is lack in this world.

This world is abundance. You come from a God of abundance. And he wants you to live an abundant life.

When you go on social media and you see someone who’s killing it, celebrate it! And remind yourself: You can have your dream life. It is not for the select few.

Like Attracts Like

When you celebrate another person’s success, you invite those good vibes right back to you. If you sit there feeling jealous and in a state of lack, that is what the universe will continue to deliver.’

I want to encourage us to stop the story that social media is negative. To me, it’s a place where we can see people chasing their dreams – and they’re not to be compared. Let’s use each other as a positive. If they can do it, YOU can do it!

I want to say thank you to all the people out there – whether you have one person or 1 million people following you – for showing up and putting yourself out there. Don’t ever undervalue yourself and the influence you have.
