Description:

Missed part one? Pause here and go read this post, then come on back for more of my favorite topic ever: priming.

Here are the three things I want you to know before we dive into how to prime:

  • We need to prime so we are in control of our minds and our minds aren’t in control of us.
  • We prime so we can have positive thoughts and emotions.
  • We prime to manifest our dreams into reality.

Now let’s get into HOW to prime. I’m going to teach you the basics today, but there’s so much still to discuss and more information I want to share after this. So don’t worry, the priming conversation will continue and if you want a little hand-holding, join my five-day priming challenge here.

You know you best. There is no right or wrong. I’ll teach you my tips and tricks, but take what works for you.

First Things First

The very first thing to do is to set aside a consistent time in the morning to prime. I strongly suggest doing it first thing in your day so that you don’t succumb to any distractions that may suck you in.

On this note, I do not open my phone before priming. I don’t check email, social media, texts, etc. I don’t want those things dictating the tone of my day before I’ve dictated the tone of my day. Leave the phone and do your thing first.

Steps

#1. Give thanks. The very first thing I do when priming is give thanks and pray. I focus and feel the gratitude for the things I’m focusing on. I typically pick three things I’m thankful for each day. We often focus on what’s not going right in our lives, but instead, think about what is working for you. Need help finding what to be thankful for? Try noticing as you’re getting ready in the morning all the things helping you, such as your body, your home, your clothes, etc. You’ll soon notice how many things you’re really thankful for you in your life.

Sit in how good it feels to be thankful. We are all made up of energy and whether you realize it or not, the energy you put out comes back to you. When you’re grateful, you’re putting the law of attraction into action. You’re sending out positive, loving vibes into the world of things that are working for you. The universe can’t help but bring that energy right back to you.

#2: Three to Thrive. I learned this from Tony Robbins and it is my favorite exercise. Think of three things you need in your life to thrive. Whether it’s personal or business, what are three things you need to get to that level? Make sure that they’re something you can do in six months or sooner. We can think big picture, but I want you to visualize the next best step.

For example, I’m working on losing weight right now. In the morning, I sit, close my eyes and visualize how it’s going to look and feel when I hit my goal. How energized am I? How does my body feel? How do my clothes fit? How am I showing up better? I see myself and give thanks as if it’s already happened. When I’m doing that, I’m sending out into the universe that this is accomplished and that I am grateful – and that energy will return to me. I’m also training my sub-conscious to believe this has happened.

Another example is my goal to have fashion influencers wear clothes from my company, Cove. I envisioned one in particular wearing Cove. So in the mornings, I’d visualize how I’d wrap the package for her and the note I’d include. I visualized her receiving the package and being so excited by the fit of clothes. I see us becoming friends and working well together. And I give thanks for the experience.

So think about it in your own life: What are the next three things you need to go to the next level? Visualize and feel what it is like to achieve those goals.

Your current reality is a direct reflection of your thoughts. You manifested the situation you’re in. I know that’s tough to hear if you don’t like where things are, but I’m giving you some tough love because if we don’t own it, we can’t fix it. I’m right there with you. But I have some good news: If you change your thoughts, you can change your reality.

#3: Review your intentions for that day. I suggest doing this every night before bed, then reviewing them again during your priming time the next morning. I want you to focus on what you are doing that day. Think of one to three things you can get accomplished that day so you can attain that feeling of accomplishment, which will motivate you to do even more.

Bonus Step: Meditation. If you have time, try adding in a brief meditation. Guided meditations are a great way to stay focused while meditating. I highly recommend doing a meditation on gratitude. One of my favorite go-to meditations is One World Academy’s “Gratitude.” It’s so beautiful.

Do Something Rather Than Nothing

I know it can feel difficult to find the time to prime. I used to spend hours doing it, but that’s really not realistic anymore for me or for most! Now, I prime for 10 minutes, and I know you can find 10 minutes in your day to do this. It’s an investment in you and will elevate the rest of your day. If you can’t sit down in quiet to go through these exercises, try doing them in the shower, while you’re getting ready, on your commute, etc.

Priming Challenge

I’m doing a five-day priming challenge beginning Monday, April 29th! You can sign up right here to join. I’ll be going live with you each morning and teaching you my 15-minute priming routine. If you don’t know about priming, it’s an amazing way to remove negative chatter from your mind and it can help you manifest what you want in life.

I’d love to hear your own experiences with priming. DM me on Instagram @whattheeffpodcast or @taylormorgandesign on Instagram with questions, comments or experiences as you begin priming.
