This episode originally aired on Wednesday, March 27th on CFRC 101.9fm in Kingston. We first spoke to Dr. Mark Rosenberg, professor of Geography at Queen's University. We discussed patterns in global health including growing population density, urbanization, and the aging of populations worldwide. We spoke about the willingness and ability of legislators internationally and in Canada in particular to affect change in the health system as well as regarding detrimental effects of climate change on health. Our second interview is with Emily Kedwell, RN at Quest Community Health Centre in St. Catherines, ON. We spoke to Emily about the importance of community health care, particularly for vulnerable and priority populations including people with mental health and addiction issues and isolated seniors. She provides her opinion as an RN that the Canadian health system must shift its approach towards preventative health care in order to accommodate Canadians' needs now and in the future when our population has aged even further.
