On Jan. 1, 2019, the American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) was born – the product of a merger between the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America and the American Insurance Association. That milestone happened at the same time that the U.S. government began its partial shutdown, and APCIA CEO David Sampson said this has created both challenges and opportunities for the industry and the new APCIA. He explained why to Carrier Management Editor Mark Hollmer, at the Insurance Information Institute 2019 Joint Industry Forum in New York on Jan. 17.
