Description: Chester and Matt Dillon had left Dodge at about nine that morning, it was a good day, clear with a snap in the air. Their horses felt it too and they wanted to move fast. Matt had some government papers to take over to Bill Houghton at the Post office in Pierceville a place about 40 miles west of Dodge. As they approached the town it seemed strangely quiet.
