A menu should tease the senses, especially smell and taste. however, when artworks and artistic photographs of mouthwatering dishes are added, sight becomes involved as well, as do the hearts and souls of viewer and creator.
The menu at la locanda di mezzo is an artist’s menu, reminiscent of the artist’s book, a genre with techniques in its own right as first propounded by william Blake between the eighteenth and the nineteenth centuries. as if there were a common thread binding the countries across the channel with Barga, four artists - Fabrizio Da Prato, Giorgia Madiai, Keane, and Stefano Tommasi - are enhancing a sophisticated oenogastronomic search through their art.
The new menu is printed in different copies, each containing a unique creation born from the imagination of the artists and the chef.
Art is everywhere at la locanda, seducing the public from the cellars to the lavatory and in the dining room, showing exhibits by Giorgia Madiai who is also the curator and intends to promote this undertaking with other artists as well.
