South Africa's New President Sets Out Vision

Category: Business
Duration: 0
Publish Date: 2018-02-16 10:12:00
Description: Improving education is just one of the many challenges facing the new South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, who is delivering his first State of the Nation address. Servaas van der Berg, Professor of Economics at the University of Stellenbosch, and Raymond Parsons from the Potchefstroom Business School, give their views on what the new president needs to do to tackle those challenges. Oxfam has announced an inquiry into allegations of exploitation by its staff. But will it be enough to stop a fall in donations to the aid agency - and will the scandal affect the whole charitable sector? Kimberley Scharf , professor of economics at Birmingham University and an expert on charity finances, explains why she thinks the repercussions of what's happened at Oxfam will go far beyond that one organisation. We look back at the main global business stories of the past week with Nina Trentmann from the Wall Street Journal and Justin Fox from Bloomberg. Plus - fancy a new tailored suit but not sure how to pay for it? The BBC's Elizabeth Hotson reports on how to buy made-to-measure, without visiting a tailor.
