Description: In January 1952 hundreds of buildings were deliberately set ablaze in downtown Cairo following the killing of Egyptian policemen by British troops in the Suez Canal Zone. Tension between Britain and Egypt had been growing over British military control of the Suez Canal. The event became known as Black Saturday.
