Formed early 2019 by vocalist Mark Mundell, guitarist Malcom McKenzie, bassist Kees Hengst and drummer Dion Harris, Planet Of The Dead fuse the sound of doom, stoner and classic rock/metal with sci-fi and horror themes from the 70's and 80's leading to a unique aesthetic while still being firmly based in the tradition of heavy music. We talk about the bands formation and future plans, tone over technique and the value of simplicity and the state of heavy music in Wellington in 2019.
