This week on Wellington Rocks we go 80's with local synthwave act , StrayLight.
The project of keyboardist/guitarist Alastair Parkkali, StrayLight was started after his stints in bands Starfig Newtown and Lady Parts as a bedroom electronic project.
Since then StrayLight has released three EPs, two albums and a single. StrayLights latest EP "Tuned To A Dead Channel" is the best produced yet, featuring a collaboration with US synthwave artist Commander Supreme.
We talk about what synthwave is, 80's nostalgia,, production techniques and how technology has democratised music.
