This week on Wellington Rocks we talk to veteran post-metal ambient drone experimental rock masters, Spook The Horses.
Releasing their debut "Brighter" in 2011, they followed up with their sophomore "Rainmaker" in 2015 establishing themselves as forerunners of New Zealand sludge and doom, bring in a full time artist to add to their epic soundscapes.
However in 2017 after signing with German label Pelagic run by prog metal band The Ocean, Spook The Horses released the more ambient, sensitive album "People Used To Live Here" proving the band are no mere one trick spooky ponies.
Callum Gay (Vocals, guitar) and Max Telfer (VJ/Art/Lighting) to discuss the bands evolution, the change in style between "Rainmaker" and "People Used To Live Here", the marriage of visual and sonic in a live setting and why is it New Zealand heavy rock and metal are doing so well in Europe?
