In this episode we talk to soul/funk rock band OddJive.
Originally formed in Christchurch, founding members Nick Baldwin and Jared Doe relocated to Wellington and joined with drummer Guy Chrisholm and powerful soul vocalist Taylah Barker and are in the middle of an evolution in style.
Founded on funky riffs with progressive odd time signatures (hence the name), OddJive are now bridging a gap between soul/r'n'b and rock.
We talk about their move to Wellington, Taylah's entry into the band, the art of songwriting while staying authentic and experimental, and the artistic, melting pot of Wellington that attracted Baldwin and Doe to relocate.
