Howard. “The Haunter of the Ring” was first published in the pulp magazine Weird Tales in the June 1934 issue. Howard earned $60 for this publication… equal to just over $1,100 today in 2019. This story was set in the modern age of 1934. The short story belonged to the universe of the Cthulhu Mythos, so while it may not have been written by H.P. Lovecraft, it was certainly inspired by him. Bizarrely, at the same time, it is also a part of the Conan the Barbarian universe as it includes a relic from the Hyborian Age of the Conan the Barbarian stories, the ring of Thoth-Amon.
