Kigaku Noah Rossetter: The Flow of the Mountains

Description:

Episode Description: In this talk, Kigaku Noah Rossetter examines the seemingly paradoxical wisdom of Zen master Dogen’s Mountains and Waters Sutra. What is Dogen pointing to when he writes that mountains are both “flowing” and “not flowing”?  Looking at several sections of the text, Kigaku discusses the importance of reading Dogen through the lens of practice. And while it is tempting to read this fascicle simply as an intellectual pursuit or as nonsense, it might miss, “the finger pointing at the moon.”
