I’ve split this week’s film review into offense and defense (as with the Bama review). On the offensive side, a few early mistakes (and a couple officiating calls) kept FSU from being able to get an early lead, which changed the tenor of the game. The offense was very efficient on a down-to-down basis, but too many key mistakes ultimately doomed the Noles as a whole. Change one of about six or seven plays on offense, and the game outcome is different. The offense is still very, very good. Unconquered with Doc Staples is a reader-supported publication. Despite getting the most criticism on social media, the defensive line generally played well, particularly the DTs. (The edges had a rougher outing.) But the linebackers did not play well on the evening, and the secondary had significant problems in communication and coverage that opened the door for a red hot UVA offense to score enough points to win.
