Chester County, PA, business owner Kevin Mengel was the big brother everyone wanted, the son everyone wished they had, and the husband any girl dreamed of. Young, handsome, incredibly hard working, Kevin Mengel fell in love when he was just 20 years old. He and his wife Megan, a charmer who was initially loved by Kevin’s family, married in 1998 soon after having their first child. Family meant everything to Kevin Mengel. He dreamed of being a husband and a father, and wanted to be a good provider.

Kevin Mengel had his own landscaping business. He and Megan had two more children within a few years after their marriage and he couldn’t have been happier. Until June 2010, when Kevin never showed up at his family’s annual Father’s Day celebration. He texted his family cryptic messages saying “I’m not coming, I need space, I need to clear my head.” This went on for days until it was discovered Kevin wasn’t the one texting his family. Kevin Mengel hadn’t just left town; he’d been murdered, his remains discovered in a sports field at a high school in a neighboring town. Why would anyone want to kill this loving young man, who was always so focused on the care and happiness of his family?
