	Description:		Maybe you or someone you know has asked a similar question ... Why did Jesus have to die? It wasn't just an ordinary death - it was one of the most brutal deaths known to mankind - it was death by Roman crucifixion. This doesn't make sense to a lot of people. In fact, many leading atheists use this as their primary argument against God. They say that "substitutionary atonement" - the doctrine that Jesus died in our place so that we could be forgiven - is wrong and immoral. How could a loving God in all his power allow someone who was innocent to be sacrificed in such a brutal way for someone who is guilty? Why couldn't God just snap his fingers and forgive? It hardly seems fair and it doesn't sound very loving. For many, the message of the cross is perplexing and painful ... but to those who are being saved it is the power of God. I'll admit that the cross is complicated. However, just because something is complicated doesn't mean that it isn't logical.
