The RV and Camping Expo
We spotted this label on the side of our favorite camper of the show.
The Green Bay RV and Camping Expo was alive and well for 4 days. Kris and I were able to spend several hours visiting the show. The emphasis was definitely on the RV side of things. With only one popup trailer, one A-frame, no teardrops, egg trailers or truck campers, the show highlighted the traditional RV industry products.
It was also lacking in tent camping gear. Other than Cabela’s display with a single tent, it was slim pickings for the more primitive camper. In their defense, Cabela’s did have a pretty good display for taking up such a small space.
Kris and I did find a few favorites among the group. The R-Pod series and the Vintage Cruiser trailers were among our favorites.
Buying A Late Model Used RV
Getting an idea of the price of a new RV will give you some perspective on how much less you should pay for that used one. The RV shows are a great place to do that. You may decide to give up a little in size and features in order to start out with something new, but if something a couple of years old is what your looking for, we do have a few tips for you.
Get It Inspected
An old car salesman once told me “miles on a car are like oats. There’s oats that have been through the horse and oats that haven’t.” RVs of any kind are no different. A simple Google search for RV inspections should yield a few resources for qualified inspectors in your area. We certainly recommend an inspection if you’re spending several thousand dollars for an RV.
We finish off the show with a couple of great ads in our RV FSBO section.
