Pancake Whiz

Pancake wiz and moose lickingPancake whiz. Okay, that wasn’t the real name. It was called Batter Blaster, but it was the same concept. Much like a can of whipped cream, you would hold the can upside down and spray the batter right onto the griddle.

I actually used a couple of cans of this stuff several years ago. Could this be the answer to simple camping pancakes? Probably not since they no longer produce the product, but we do have a few suggestions.

  • Dry mix in a jar
  • Batter in a squeeze bottle
  • Microwave pancakes
  • Make extra pancakes at home and freeze
  • Cook them while you’re camping

Moose Licking. It’s Not What You Think

According to BBC.com, this is a real problem in western Canada. You head to your car, only to find a moose licking the salty winter road grime off the car’s body.

Moose On The Loose

An Idaho homeowner also found a moose in the basement of their home. It seems the animal found entry through an unlatched window. The poor creature was sedated and safely removed to the wild.

Buying an Older RV

In the last two episodes we talked about buying a new RV, or something close to new. We will be finishing up this series by talking about buying an older RV. Your budget could be as low as $1,000, but there’s something for everyone.

A Few Shopping Tips

  • Look at the bad ones so you know how to find a good one.
  • If they said “it worked last time we used it,” it probably doesn’t work now.
  • Look inside the cabinets for water damage. Be suspicious of fresh paint.
  • Check the age and condition of the tires.
  • Leave room in your budget for repairs.
  • Know what needs a title and license plates. These laws aren’t consistent from state to state.
  • Use your nose.
  • Try everything. Fold down the dinette, sofa or anything else that makes into a bed. You never know what’s been repaired or replaced.

The New (to us) Ballard Van

The short version, we decided on a used conversion van. We found a 98 Ford with 94,000 miles. The van had two owners, the second having it for 10 years. The van’s complete with all the comforts of 1998.
