After being ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation and getting off to an 11-1 start, the UW-La Crosse men’s basketball team saw its losing streak pushed to three on Wednesday.
The 18th-ranked Eagles went 1-for-22 from deep and 17 of 27 from the free-throw line in losing to UW-Whitewater 63-60.
The Warhawks (11-4, 2-2 WIAC) hit just enough free throws to keep the Eagles (11-4, 1-3) at bay.
Sam Grieger scored 21, while teammate Dustin Derousseau added 18 but the two combined to go 13 of 36 from the field and 1 of 10 from deep.
Oddly enough, UW-W shot worse than the Eagles, hitting just 33% from the field, but made up for that on the free throw line (23-for-31).
