Fresh off the highest opening-season team score in program history, the defending National Champion UW-La Crosse gymnastics team performs in front of a home crowd for the first time this season on Friday.
The Eagles, who scored a 192.100 at the University of Nebraska last weekend, face Greenville University at 5:30 p.m. at Mitchell Hall. Kids in eighth grade and under get in free.
Three defending individual national champions return for the Eagles in Grace Kehr and juniors Raina Christenson and Claire Robbins. Kehr won the vault last season and took second on floor exercise, while Christenson and Robbins were part of a UW-L three-person tie for first on the balance beam.
Last year’s title was the 18th National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) championship for the Eagles and the first for UW-L coach Kasey Crawford. Now in her 10th season, Crawford has led UW-L to three second-place and two third-place finishes during her tenure.
