While Sam Grieger set a school record with 46 points and went over the 1,000-point mark, his sixth-ranked UW-La Crosse men’s basketball team fell to No. 21 UW-Oshkosh in overtime Wednesday night.
Grieger nailed a 3-pointer with a second to go in regulation to force overtime, but the Titans held on with free throws to pull out the 121-115 win.
Grieger was a ridiculous 16-for-28 from the field, including 4 of 7 from deep against UW-O (11-2, 2-0 WIAC). He also hit 10 of 12 free throws and added six rebounds, two assists and had just two turnovers in 41 minutes.
Dustin Derousseau added 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting for the Eagles (11-2, 1-1), who saw their three-game win streak snapped.
Next up, UW-L is at UW-Platteville at 5 p.m. Saturday.
