On this week's episode of The Stand, Eamon Dunphy is joined by John Giles, Liam Brady and the Mail on Sunday's Oliver Holt, as they discuss the ongoing child abuse scandal rocking English football.
Holt gives Eamon the latest update from the UK including the latest on Chelsea's payoff to an abuse victim for his silence.
'Wherever this is going, football is not going to be in a good place,' says Holt, while Eamon reveals how he too suffered 'mild abuse' as a child playing with Stella Maris in Dublin.
'We would be taken swimming naked by a priest, Fr. McNamee, who would also be naked,' explains Dunphy. 'Older kids had told me to be careful around him and I knew, but I still didn't tell my parents at the time.'
Elsewhere on the show, Eamon, John and Liam preview the big match at the weekend, Man City v Chelsea, with all three questioning City's defence and whether they can remain error-free. |
