In some US cities, Black Lives Matter rallies haven't just persisted. They've escalated.
Earlier this month, Donald Trump sent federal law enforcement officers to Portland, and he's considering doing the same elsewhere.
The rationale is that agents will protect federal property in the city, such as courthouses.
But since the deployment, the officers have ended up in violent confrontations with protesters, leading to concerns that their presence is having the perverse effect of escalating the situation.
