The Government lost a vote in the Parliament this week when Labor combined with the crossbench to pass a law, making it easier for refugees and asylum seekers to be transferred to Australia for medical treatment. The Coalition has warned the change risks restarting the people smuggling trade, and it has re-opened the Christmas Island Detention Centre in case new boats arrive. So how will the new system work?
