Why is the US trying to overthrow the Venezuelan government?

Category: News & Politics
Duration: 00:11:58
Publish Date: 2019-02-12 11:00:00
Description: The nation of Venezuela is turning into an enormous mess. It's got one of the world's biggest proven oil reserves - around a fifth of the global total - and it's largely in the Government's hands. So how does a country like that end up with medicine and food shortages, rampant hyperinflation, and rolling popular protests on two sides of a fight? Many observers blame the President Nicolas Maduro and his predecessor Hugo Chavez. The US, Australia, and a number of other democracies have recently come out endorsing the opposition leader, Juan Guaidó. The question is, why do western countries like the US and Australia suddenly care so much? And how far is Donald Trump willing to go to influence Venezuela's political future?
