Last week I posted about Why You Need to Cross Train (Even if You are Not Injured), and I talked about how I have found joy in it recently, as well as the additional aerobic training I am getting from it.
Some of you may have seen on my Instagram that Steve and I made a big step a few weeks ago by purchasing something we have had our eye on for a year now.
An ElliptiGO.
Steve has been struggling with his own running in the last few years, he has a herniated disc in his back, which causes all kinds of problems. He does SO well being so supportive of my own running when his body will just not let him run much more than an hour.
When he tried out the Elliptigo, he found that it did not irriate his injuries, and he loved it. We both agreed that we would get one as soon as we could.
Pro 1: Does not irritate running injuries that are aggravated by the impact of running

But, EllipiGO’s are no minor purchase (starting at $1799 for the basic 3 Gear model), and we are saving for a wedding. We put it on out long term list, and tried to put it out of sight.
Con 1: Expensive
However:
More and more, we kept seeing them everywhere…..no, not in person, can you imagine Kentucky being a hotspot for them?
Haha, not likely! I mean through social media.
About a month ago, Steve said he was going to sell his Motorcycle so we could buy one.
The next week he had a friend sell it for him (as it was back in Michigan). In this crazy small world, another friend of his, Clint (Verran) happened to be the one to buy it (without knowing it was Steves bike!) within a few days.
The day we got the check in the mail, I called Jeff Caron. Jeff was the one who introduced us to ElliptiGO, and has been a great friend to me over the years. We purchased it that day, and with the GO and rack, we had $50 of the bike money to spare (which actually went on installing the hitch on the car).

We now have our own lovely ElliptiGO 8C in Red, we named it Apollo (Creed- geddit? :P) and something tells me we will not be able to hold off too many years without getting another one.
They are such an amazing company, so supportive, and truly understand runners. Every ElliptiGO staff member I have intereacted with has been awesome, and made it a very smooth process.
Pro 2: Good company that actually carews
So, now we have another cross training tool, and one that doesn’t even feel like something that is robbing me of running. ElliptiGO‘s are SO MUCH FUN. The kind of thing you would pay to use just for leisure (seriously!!), and you can go really fast on them, which just adds to it.
Pro 3: It’s fun!
ElliptiGO’s are also one of the closest ways you can mimic running while injured, without actually doing it.
Pro 3: Mimics running very well
This is a lifesaver for those of us who have had major injuries that required hours and hours and HOURS in the pool in the past, and of course, we do not all have access to Alter-G treadmills or underwater treadmills.
Pro 4: Good for those who are not Olympians to maintain or improve fitness
