Description: SHOW NOTES INTRODUCING ANDREW GMIRKIN! This is a fun time of year if you are around the FFA.  New officer teams are being elected and instated at conventions all over they country.  Our guest today is one of those new officers - the newly elected president of Oregon FFA to be exact. Andrew Gmirkin started his FFA journey years ago after some friends encouraged him to raise and show a pig.  He did not grow up on a farm, but this experience stuck and he has made the most of it.  Now Andrew has supervised agricultural experiences in swine production, floral design, speciality crop production and raising and selling crickets for human consumption. He has had a broad range of experiences in FFA so far.  What is interesting about Oregon is that Andrew is required to take a "gap" year between high school and college to serve as his state's FFA president.  So, for the next 350+ days he will be devoting himself completely to Oregon FFA. REASONS TO DONATE TO FFA: Only 2% of Americans grow and raise most of the food and livestock consumed by the other 98% as well as the rest of the world.  FFA is providing the needed education, training and resources to Americans that will carry that torch forward and insure that America continues to have inexpensive, quality food. Rural Communities will rely on entrepreneurship in the future for population growth and job creation.  The FFA is a major catalyst to that entrepreneurial growth. Farmers, ranchers and those working in agriculture give the rest of America incredible amounts of freedom because the search for food is as simple as going to the grocery store: "Because American farmers are able to provide for so many of us, they give more and more of us the freedom to pursue goals and livelihoods beyond growing the food we need to survive."
