SHOW NOTES
KEY IDEAS:
One of things about being an entrepreneur that is so great is the opportunities that come along that you never expected. Having your own podcast even makes it better because of the people that you get to speak with.
A few weeks back I had the idea to tell the story of the song "Fly Over States" in a podcast episode with the man who wrote it, Neil Thrasher Jr. . The song was about farming and Middle America and the story needed to be told. That interview opened me up to opportunities to speak with other, great songwriters.
Today's guest, Erik Dylan, is a great singer, songwriter and performer. He has released two of his own cd's, Heart Of A Flatland Boy as well as Baseball On The Moon, and he has written songs for some great acts like The Eli Young Band and Kip Moore.
Erik grew up on a farm in Northeast Kansas where his dad grew corn and soybeans. They tried cattle once but decided to stick with crops after that. Today Erik lives and writes in Nashville but plays all over the Midwest. He also has a band in Canada and travels up there to play shows as well.
Songwriting has allowed Erik to meet his heroes and write with them. He talks very fondly about being able to write with Guy Clark and work with Steve Earle in our interview. I think you are going really enjoy getting to know this great country music artist, and you will absolutely love his music.
