Description: SHOW NOTES KEY IDEAS:  There are many different ways to start a business and to go into business for yourself.  One of the proven methods is to find a concept that needs expanding and become the conduit for that expansion.  Our guest today, Brad McDonald, is doing just that with an idea that originated in Finland of all places. Brad discovered a company called Agroy, and they had a concept that is similar to that of Amazon.com but for farmers purchasing inputs like seed and fertilizer.  Brad liked the concept and has brought it to the United States.  However, the acres available to him in the U.S. far exceeds what is available in Europe. One of the most interesting things about this interview that I enjoyed hearing was how Brad prepared himself for the moment when this opportunity arrived.  When he completed college he took the best job he could get, and that actually led him to New York City.  This job allowed him to bank his money for four years and build up a fund that would allow him to take a risk when the time came.  It was this preparation that led to him bringing Agroy to the U.S. ADVICE FROM BRAD: TOLERANCE: You need to know your risk tolerance before you get behind a concept.  If you can stand to go bankrupt you can take a much bigger chance than if you have a home you could not bare to lose. PROOF: Do everything you can do to prove the concept before you invest in it. FAIL FAST: Brad does not want you to fail, but if failure is going to happen then fail fast.  Get it over with and move onto to the next concept that has a better chance of working. BEST BUSINESS ADVICE BRAD HAS RECEIVED: WRESTLING WITH PIGS: "Never wrestle with a pig; you'll both get dirty but the pig will enjoy it". PERSONAL HABIT THAT HELPS BRAD SUCCEED: TO DO LIST: Brad writes a to do list every Monday morning.  This helps him to get things done, and it also helps him to feel a sense of accomplishment as he checks things off of his list during the week.
