SHOW NOTES
INTRODUCING ATTICUS HUMPHREY!
As time goes on I think this show has given me insight into one of the greatest secrets about paying for college that never seems to be spoken of. I continue to interview student after student that has completed 15, 30 and sometimes even 60+ college credits through dual enrollment in high school.
The cost of tuition for a dual enrollment student is already reduced below that of normal tuition, and of course the student is living at home while they are taking these classes. In multiple situations, the student may not need to pay anything for the college credit when they receive them in this manner.
Today’s guest, Atticus Humphrey, completed his associates degree the summer after he graduated high school. The number of credits he completed was exceptional, but before he ever “began” college he was half way done. In addition to this, he had not spent a dime on tuition because of a grant from the Wonderful Company and the Resnick Family in California.
Atticus was able to save himself and his family half the expense of college by working hard and being innovative during high school. In my own family we have the opportunity to have much of Hattie’s college paid for in this same way through a fund in the State Of Idaho that provides every student up to $4290 for expenses such as tuition and books when they take dual credit courses.
In a day and age when the increasing costs of college tuition far outpace inflation and when student loan debt is a burden that more and more college graduates are facing, dual credit enrollment classes appear to be the answer.

Donate to FFA – One way that FFA students are able to start small businesses is through an FFA grant of $1,000. In 2014, 141 FFA students received these grants. With your donations, more students can get this head start – pay it forward.
REASONS TO DONATE TO FFA:
- Only 2% of Americans grow and raise most of the food and livestock consumed by the other 98% as well as the rest of the world. FFA is providing the needed education, training and resources to Americans that will carry that torch forward and insure that America continues to have inexpensive, quality food.
- Rural Communities will rely on entrepreneurship in the future for population growth and job creation. The FFA is a major catalyst to that entrepreneurial growth.
- Farmers, ranchers and those working in agriculture give the rest of America incredible amounts of freedom because the search for food is as simple as going to the grocery store:
“The future of American agriculture depends on the involvement and investment in America’s youth, In order to prepare for the population of tomorrow, we need to encourage America’s youth today, and show that careers in agriculture are profitable, rewarding, and vital.”.
U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Sonny Perdue
