But, as I write this today, we are in the midst of this. As I look back on this interview with Sarah, I think it is more important now than when I first thought to reach out to her. In this interview we are going to be discussing consumer trends as well as strategies for direct marketing and business sustainability for your farm. Plus, we will expose you to a great resource for information on the business or farming – The Penn State Extension Service and all of their publications. Obviously the future is very uncertain right now. We don’t know how long public shut downs will last, and what the long term impacts on our economy are going to be. We do know that people are going to continue to need to eat and that there is no reason to shut down farming as we are a low risk of spreading any virus. This may be the just the moment in time to start selling your goods locally and to find a way to enter the marketplace. As people socially isolate and are looking for ways to stop the spread of the coronavirus, buying local and direct from a farmer might be part of that solution.
