But there is another way that people are creating off-farm income by sharing their farming stories, and that is through YouTube. More and more of these folks are emerging, and it is amazing to see how many people out there want to know about farming. Today I get to speak with Ryan Kuster. He is the creator of the YouTube Channel, How Farms Work. From his farm in Wisconsin, Ryan farms with his brother and his father. Like all “overnight successes” there is a lot more to this story than just starting a YouTube channel. Ryan has had an interest in photography and videography since high school, and it was his natural interest that led him into this business. ADVICE FROM RYAN: HOPE – Don’t give up hope, keep pushing forward. TIME – Building something like “How Farms Work” takes time. Just because it looks like an overnight success does not mean that it is. BEST BUSINESS ADVICE: The best business advice that Ryan has received is to keep close track of your expenses so you can always make sure that you are working at a profit. PERSONAL HABIT: Ryan is very strict on his schedule. He knows what he wants to accomplish in a day and sticks to his schedule.
