	Description:		SHOW NOTES KEY IDEAS: A special thanks to Tyler Hendrickson of Episode #390 for suggesting that I interview today’s guest, Heidi VanDyke. He was right, she was a great guest. We all start at different places on our journey to become farmers, and our starting positions give us all unique perspectives and opportunities. Heidi VanDyke is just 20 years old, but she is attacking farming and not taking for granted any opportunity that has come her way. Heidi has been able to lease a farm that her father and uncle purchased. There she is milking 45 head of cattle on her own and value adding to the milk by making cheese. The farm that she is leasing has traditionally had a retail storefront to sell products. Heidi is taking this and running with it, full-speed. Green Vale Farm now sells soft-serve ice cream, cheese from the farm and meat from livestock raised on the farm as well. As of right now Heidi does all of this, primarily, by herself. The store is open two times per week, but she is getting requests for more products and more open times. Heidi told me that she is going to do everything she can to keep farming at his location for the rest of her life, and to one day purchase the farm. She is going at it really hard, and I think she is going to get there. ADVICE FROM HEIDI: CONNECT: Heidi loves people, and that is the strength of her retail location. She suggests taking the time to connect with people. VISION: You have to have a vision. If you cannot see where you are going, how will you ever get there? OPEN MINDED: Be willing to give your customers what they want. After all, you are there to serve them. BEST ADVICE HEIDI HAS RECEIVED: Never give up, and do not let a negative mindset drive you. PERSONAL HABIT: Heidi cites her work ethic, and based on everything that she is doing, I would have to agree!
