INTRODUCING EMMA CARR!
Our guest today is a leader. There are many different types of leaders, and the way they lead can look very different. In Emma Carr’s case she looked at her FFA chapter and thought that they needed to come together as a team better. So, instead of telling somebody else about this and hoping they would fix it, she went about doing it herself.
Emma decided to become an officer in her chapter to give her the opportunity to address what she saw as a lack of bonding. She will be serving her second year as an officer when school starts again, and she has already created opportunities for bonding in her chapter.
This should come as no surprise when you hear about the other things that Emma is involved with. Her family started a community service project called “Tractors For Tots”. It is modeled after the “Toys For Tots” program. However, in this project they wanted to provide toys for kids who were ill while teaching about agriculture at the same time.
Tractors For Tots was created when Emma’s sister was crowned “farm princess” for their county. Since beginning, and thanks to the efforts of Emma’s entire family community donations of money along has jumped from $200 to $1,000 with the project continuing to grow.
All of this takes place with the backdrop of Emma’s families growing farm which has adeptly been named “Three Sisters Farm.” The farm started with just 3 acres but since then they have been able to grow it to 30. Emma and her two sisters are taking full advantage of this opportunity.

Donate to FFA – One way that FFA students are able to start small businesses is through an FFA grant of $1,000. In 2014, 141 FFA students received these grants. With your donations, more students can get this head start – pay it forward.
REASONS TO DONATE TO FFA:
- Only 2% of Americans grow and raise most of the food and livestock consumed by the other 98% as well as the rest of the world. FFA is providing the needed education, training and resources to Americans that will carry that torch forward and insure that America continues to have inexpensive, quality food.
- Rural Communities will rely on entrepreneurship in the future for population growth and job creation. The FFA is a major catalyst to that entrepreneurial growth.
- Farmers, ranchers and those working in agriculture give the rest of America incredible amounts of freedom because the search for food is as simple as going to the grocery store:
“Because American farmers are able to provide for so many of us, they give more and more of us the freedom to pursue goals and livelihoods beyond growing the food we need to survive.”
U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack
