Thanks for being the highlight of my week.  Sitting down to speak with you all on this Tuesday episode is always a thrill for me.  I am so happy to do it, and I could not do it without you!

Water

I have been thinking about the miracle of water a lot lately when I am irrigating our farm.  We pump our water so that we can pressurize a sprinkler system and irrigate that way.  The part that fascinates me is that weeks to months prior to that very water being pumped through our sprinklers, it was going through a turbine in a hydro-electric plant and producing the very electricity needed to run our pump.  If that is not green, I don’t know what is!

Growing Up

Autumm, Hattie and I just got home from four days in “The Dalles”, Oregon.  Hattie is on her league’s all-star team for softball, and she had a tournament there this weekend.  Autumm and I coached Hattie’s softball teams for five years.  This year is the first time that we are not coaching.  So, we have coached about 1/2 of the girls that Hattie plays with.  It is great to watch them all improve as players and grow into young women.

Also, our farm-sitter for the weekend is a young lady we have known ever since we moved to Kuna.  We first met her when Hattie joined 4H, and she was a member.  We have watched her grow from 4H member to 4H officer, from 4H officer to FFA member, from FFA member to FFA Officer, from high school ag student to college ag student.  It has been great to watch her progress, and to know that our farm is in good hands when we leave it with her.

Website

I am steadily building our farm’s website.  Right now I am producing as much content as I can to really get the site noticed and expand our beef customer base.  I would love to see your farm websites to get ideas and even to comment on them during one of our episodes.

I have found that writing down things about our farm on the website is a great way to reflect fondly on the things I love about the farm.  It is also a great way to document things that might be forgotten so we can look back on it in the future or Hattie and her kids can.  I encourage you all to do something similar as you develop your farms.  Save those memories!
