SHOW NOTES
INTRODUCING CAMERON POKORNY!
You might recognize that last name. This is the first time that I have interviewed a third sibling on the show. I interviewed Dylon Pokorny (episode #325) and Katrina Pokorny (episode #355) a couple of years back. Today I get to interview their younger brother, Cameron.
Cameron has decided to go his own way in business. He is raising chickens and selling them for genetics and meat. He is also selling eggs. He started just showing chickens as a hobby, but he later determined that he wanted to turn the hobby into a business. In trying to figure out how to do that, he discovered selling eggs and raising broilers for meat.
Cameron has developed his own brand, Cam’s Coop. He has become very adept in branding and marketing. He uses business cards and t-shirts to promote his business at shows or other events. He is also using Facebook and developing followers.
One of the most innovative things that Cameron has done is contributing 23 dozen eggs to his local food pantry. After doing that he put out a challenge to other businesses in his community to donate 23 items of something else. This has generated a lot of word of mouth and shares on Facebook while it is doing something great for the community at the same time.

Support FFA
Donate to FFA – One way that FFA students are able to start small businesses is through an FFA grant of $1,000. In 2014, 141 FFA students received these grants. With your donations, more students can get this head start – pay it forward.
REASONS TO DONATE TO FFA:
- Only 2% of Americans grow and raise most of the food and livestock consumed by the other 98% as well as the rest of the world. FFA is providing the needed education, training and resources to Americans that will carry that torch forward and insure that America continues to have inexpensive, quality food.
- Rural Communities will rely on entrepreneurship in the future for population growth and job creation. The FFA is a major catalyst to that entrepreneurial growth.
- Farmers, ranchers and those working in agriculture give the rest of America incredible amounts of freedom because the search for food is as simple as going to the grocery store:
“Because American farmers are able to provide for so many of us, they give more and more of us the freedom to pursue goals and livelihoods beyond growing the food we need to survive.”
U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack
