SHOW NOTES
KEY IDEAS:
On today's show I get to do something that I really enjoy.....a follow up interview. Dave Hunt from Northeast Edible will be coming on the show to talk about how his business has progressed over time, and the services he has added. We will talk about people with no experience but a strong desire to farm buying farm ground and moving to the country. We will also discuss mistakes we have both made in the hopes that others can avoid those.
I really enjoyed getting to know Dave the first time that I interviewed him for episode #276 and it was a pleasure to speak with him again.
ADVICE FROM DAVE:
PREDATORS: When you move into a new area, be aware of the potential predators for your plants and/or animals.
CLIMATE: Before planting or deciding on locations for garden plots, learn and know your micro-climates or the dynamics of the weather in your new area
SOILS: Know what your soils are. Consult soil maps and take soil samples to know where things will grow the best on your farm.
BEST BUSINESS ADVICE DAVE HAS RECEIVED:
START: Get out there and do something. Just thinking about it and researching does not get you any closer to where you want to be. Start!
PERSONAL HABIT THAT HELPS DAVE SUCCEED:
RISE EARLY: Dave is very purposeful about getting up early and starting his day correctly. When that happens, the rest of the day is much more productive.
BOOKS/RESOURCES:
Dave recommends The Holistic Orchard: Tree Fruits and Berries the Biological Way as a powerful resource that he used.
