On today's episode I interview Sam Jarman. Sam is an iOS developer at the Bank of New Zealand and it's his first job writing production Swift code. We discuss his transition from Objective-C to Swift and compare and contrast the two languages.
Today's episode is brought to you by Lambda School. Lambda School is an online boot camp that trains students in various software engineering disciplines at no up front cost to the student. Instead of paying tuition, students enter an agreement to pay Lambda School a percentage of their income for two years, and only if their income is over $50k/year. In the event a student is unable to find a job after graduating, Lambda School never collects a penny; this incentivizes Lambda School to make sure you have the skills needed to land a high paying job.
Lambda School is offering a free two week iOS 101 course with absolutely no strings attached. There are two cohorts available staring June 11th and June 25th, operating on a Monday through Thursday schedule. Each day covers one hour of live instruction, an hour of practice problems with TA’s available to answer any questions, and another hour of small group discussion around the problems. The cohort covers an introduction to Swift, the basics of Xcode and UIKit, and is a perfect way to see if Lambda School is the right fit for you.
Listeners of the Learn Swift podcast can sign up for the free two week course at lambdaschool.com/learnswift. Thanks to Lambda School for sponsoring the show!
