After months of demands for lower interest rates, President Donald Trump is attempting to fire Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook in the most dramatic step yet in his efforts to take control of the independent central bank. As WSJ’s Matt Grossman explains, the move could allow Trump to alter the makeup of the board enough to potentially outvote Fed Chair Jerome Powell and recast the Fed in his image.
