He has written several highly acclaimed books and contributes regularly to the New York Times' The Stone, the Los Angeles Review of Books and Stanford University's Arcade. His most recent book -- "The Splintering of the American Mind" - takes a hard look at the neoliberal trends that now dominate our college and university campuses and administrations, and have in turn fostered a culture of divisive identity politics, economic and racial inequality and are now eroding our sense of social community and authentic civic participation.
