	Description:		Putting the real American economy and the so-called economic recovery into pers Prof. Gerald Epstein is a professor of economics at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, and the co-director of the university's Political Economy Research Institute. He has published widely on issues related to macroeconomic policy to promote economic justice and sustainable solutions to enhance living standards, central banking, and international and the US financial systems. In the past Prof. Epstein has been a visiting professor at universities in Rome, Paris, Senegal, China, and Turkey. He holds an MA in public policy and a doctorate in economics from Princeton University, and has co-authored a textbook on the political economy of financial crises and other works dealing with globalization, inflation, and monetary policy. His forthcoming book will be entitled "The Political Economy of Central Banking: Contested Control and the Power of Finance."
