This week on the Forum, author Barbara Mahoney talks about her book on the intense debates that surrounded the Oregon territory’s transition toward statehood. “The SalemClique: Oregon’s Founding Brothers” is her latest book and we added clips from her appearances at the “History in the News” panels where she contributed historic analysis to current news events.
It wasn’t all sunshine and songs during the early days of Oregon. A century and a half ago as the territory progressed toward statehood, conflict and passion sparked intense political debates including charges of corruption and the unavoidable topic of slavery. |
