Description:

Our panel of Emmet Kennedy, Jaime Wrenn and leading bloodstock agent Tom Malone look back on a sensational Cheltenham Festival, analysing the biggest performances from the Grade 1 races across all four days.

It was a remarkable week for Irish-trained horses, who landed 11 of the 13 Grade 1 races and 12 of the 15 Graded contests, while British-trained runners dominated the handicaps, winning nine of the 12 handicap races.

We begin with Gaelic Warrior’s Cheltenham Gold Cup victory, providing a fifth win in the race for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend, who also became the winning-most jockey in the race’s 101-year history.

The panel discuss what Gaelic Warrior could achieve next and who might emerge as the biggest challenger to his crown next season.

GOLD CUP & CHAMPIONSHIP RACES

We assess the future plans for:

• Gaelic Warrior
• Jango Baie

CHAMPION CHASE SHOCK

Odds-on favourite Majborough became the seventh odds-on favourite beaten in the last decade as stablemate Il Etait Temps stormed to victory in the Queen Mother Champion Chase.

The panel debate:

• What next for Majborough
• Whether Il Etait Temps can defend his crown
• Which novice chasers could challenge next year

⭐ CHAMPION HURDLE DOMINANCE

Lossiemouth maintained her perfect Cheltenham record, taking her tally to five wins at the track and landing a fourth consecutive Festival victory with a dominant success in the Champion Hurdle.

Can she win back-to-back Champion Hurdles, and which rising novices might threaten her next season?
