Description:

October 28 | This week's podcast, with Lionel Birnie and Richard Moore, features a second report from the London Six Day.

We hear from six-day legend Iljo Keisse, 2014 Paris-Roubaix winner Niki Terpstra, and Maurice Burton, who competed in the last six-day in London, held at Wembley Stadium in 1980, and whose son, Germain, was competing in the revived event. Burton senior competed in the major 'sixes' throughout Europe and recalls the smoke-filled arenas of the 1970s. Some of the riders prepared, he claims, by smoking themselves: "I preferred a cigar," Burton says.

We also have a feature on 'Lance', a comedy show that was one of the hits of the Edinburgh Fringe and is now touring the country. The creation of Kieran Hodgson, 'Lance' is one man's story of being let down by his hero. When he heard Armstrong's confession to Oprah: "I ripped my Lance poster off the wall and put it where it belonged! In the mixed recycling." We hear from Kieran, who talks about the origins of the show, the reactions to it, and why he thinks Mark Cavendish is the Prince Harry of professional cycling.
