Description: The Doorway To Becoming Your True Self This week, on The Conscious Consultant Hour, Sam welcomes counselor, educator, consultant, executive mentor, international retreat leader, author, and director of the Center for Christ Conscious Leadership, Barbara Benjamin. Barbara Benjamin is a counselor, educator, consultant, executive mentor, international retreat leader, and author. Barbara Benjamin is currently the director of the Center for Christ Conscious Leadership, which offers trauma counseling, career mentoring, organizational consulting, and online certificate courses. Specializing in infant, childhood, abuse, health, and mid-life trauma, Ms. Benjamin works with clients to identify and heal life traumas, expand emotional and spiritual development, and define and fulfill their life’s purpose. From 1990 until 2010, she was the founding director of Intuitive Discovery, Inc. where she designed and facilitated programs in leadership, human resources, innovation, and creative and spiritual development for Fortune 500 companies, non-profit organizations, and universities. Ms. Benjamin has also designed, directed, and instructed graduate distance learning programs in organizational and interactive leadership for the School of Business at Mercy College. In 2005, she won the national Sloan-C award for most effective practice in building an online learning community. She codeveloped, coproduced, and presented a 16-hour live video program on leadership for the National Technological University (NTU). The program was broadcast to international corporations and to U.S. executive departments and government agencies on the NTU Satellite Network. Earlier in her career, Ms. Benjamin served as the Director of Pupil Personnel Services and Assistant Superintendent of Schools in Connecticut and was an active member of local, state, and federal committees for education and mental health reform. Her speaking engagements include: “Perception, Communication, and Innovation,” Polytechnic University in Pleasantville, NY; “Through My Window: The Spirit of Creativity,” The Writer’s Workshop in Geneva, Switzerland; “The Prayer of Quiet in St. Teresa of Avila’s Interior Castle,” The Cenacle Center in Houston, Texas, and “Here Is a Place Inside of Me: The Search for Spiritual Maturity,” The Congregational Church in New Canaan, CT. She has also presented various workshops for the New Canaan Career Transition Support (CaTS) group. Segment 1: Sam warmly greets his listeners and talks about the daily quote from the Universe. Turn over the HOWs to the Universe. He then shares the quote from Abraham. Things that have the tendency to divide us. Sam asks why these tendencies always divide us. Sam talks about faith as well noting a big difference between Faith in reality and Blind Faith. Segment 2: Sam introduces his guest, Barbara Benjamin. Barbara joins the show to talk about introspection. We are living in the world where we can find our identity…from outside to in. Barbara discuss how we have more in common. There are many influences that “define” us who we are. She goes into the discussion of how we are pressured to be our “true self”. Segment 3: Sam and Barbara continue to talk about one’s true self and introspection. Barbara expresses how one becomes their true self and how it would benefit them. To have true fulfillment in your life, you have to be your true self. She talks about how people seem to fill in a “job description” and aren’t sure how to integrate their true selves into that while explaining how one see their true self. Segment 4: Barbara talks about this exercise before getting started on it, where one can try and figure out their true self. She talks more about survival and freedom of how to define your true self. Most of the variations are connected. Sam talks about the brain is always on a fight-or-flight mechanism. Barbara gives some wisdom about finding your true self and her workshop.
