Description: Raising children who love and obey God. This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview. With the abundance of child-rearing resources, it may seem surprising that the New Testament has only one verse that directly addresses the issue. Ephesians 6:4 says, “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” “Don’t provoke” means don’t be overbearing. “Bring them up” implies a daily, ongoing endeavor. “Discipline” means correcting sinful behavior and attitudes with appropriate punishment. And “instruction” means teaching God’s ways and will. Above all, explain the gospel, because only a born-again heart will love and follow God. Hear more at TheChristianWorldview.org.
