In a relaxed retreat setting, John-Roger answers questions posed by some of the participants. His first response is about how serious-minded people can, nonetheless, bring uplifting joy into their world. He says, “I don’t know where bringing solemnity and silence and downness into a group really serves. You could have put a sign up ‘Enter upon this serious occasion with a serious note with serious behavior. Seriously yours.’ And there may be value in the laughter of that.”
