The long-running legal saga between Ripple Labs and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has finally reached its conclusion. The court determined that XRP, Ripple’s native cryptocurrency, is not a security when sold to the general public. However, the company was found guilty of selling XRP to institutional investors as an unregistered security. As a result, Ripple has been ordered to pay a $125 million fine, 94% less than the $2 Billion the SEC was demanding.
