Description:

In 1290 England became the first nation to expel a Jewish community, which had then been established for over 200 years. Edward I forcibly removed the community from the borders, in particular accusing Jewish moneylenders of illicitly ‘clipping’ coins for their own profit. Historic Royal Palaces’ curator Megan Gooch will discuss 13th-century coinage, before historian Dr Richard Huscroft explores the events that culminated in this remarkable and tragic expulsion.
